The ride is always held the last full week of July, Sunday through Saturday. What does it cost? A week-long rider fee is $175 (plus tax); a week-long non-rider fee is $35 (plus tax). A vehicle permit is $40 (plus tax) for a personal vehicle or straight truck, and $50 (plus tax) for a Bus or RV.
The event is seven days of riding with an average of 67 miles per day through the Iowa countryside. You may enter as a rider or a non-rider.
With the route now mapped, RAGBRAI XLVIII will cover 455.5 miles from July 25-31, up from 426 miles when it was first announced in January. The Le Mars-to-Clinton route is the same one planned for 2020, except that Sac City and DeWitt will replace Storm Lake and Maquoketa as overnight towns.
Clocking in at 420.3 miles with 12,306 feet of climb, the 48th edition of this roving cycling celebration will be the sixth shortest in ride history.
This year's route is rated as the 22nd most difficult route out of 39, so fairly mid-pack. What is a little unusual is that all the days are fairly close to 70 miles. Some years there are long days and shorter days mixed in. This will be a fairly consistent set of daily rides.
