The HSBC Gold Mastercard® credit card is a good pick if you're eyeing a large purchase and need a long interest-free runway to pay it off, or if you're looking to transfer a high-interest balance and need a lot of time to whittle it down sans interest. It can also save you money on fees in general.
The Bottom Line
But even with its appealing benefits, the Mastercard Gold Card is far from the best premium travel card on the market. Its annual fee leans toward exorbitant, and its rewards program is average at best.
For the majority of the HSBC credit cards at least a good (700+) or excellent (750+) credit score is needed. The only exception is the HSBC Cash Rewards Mastercard Student Account which you can get with a fair (640+) credit score, but also a limited credit history.
The HSBC Gold Credit Card offers a generous 0% APR introductory offer on purchases and balance transfers. It has relatively few fees and a relaxed late-payment policy, keeping the cost of the card low. But it lacks rewards.

Here's how to (pre) qualify for an HSBC credit card: All HSBC credit cards require good or excellent credit. Generally, good credit starts at a score of 660, and excellent credit begins at 719. However, we recommend considering good and excellent credit to mean 700+ and 750+, respectively.
Centurion® Card from American Express
Why it's one of the hardest credit cards to get: The hardest credit card to get is the American Express Centurion Card. Known simply as the “Black Card,” you need an invitation to get Amex Centurion.
The most exclusive credit card is the American Express Centurion Card, also known as the Amex Black Card. It is reportedly reserved for people who spend at least $100,000 per year, and an application is needed to apply.
The highest credit card limit is $100,000 from the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, according to reports about the card's maximum limit (and only considering cards available to the general public). But not all applicants who are approved for an account receive a limit that high.
HSBC said the closures are part of plans to become a market-leading digital bank and an overhaul of how remaining branches will operate. Of the 82 sites closing, 81 are within a mile of a Post Office, two thirds are within five miles of another HSBC branch and nine in 10 are within 10 miles, the bank added.
