Consider these 8 steps to improve your self-worth regardless of your net-worth.
At some point in your financial life you may have heard that if you don't believe you can get more money then you won't get it. The reality is that our perception of ourselves, and how worthy we think we are, has a direct correlation with our net worth.
When you have never been made to be responsible for sustaining your own well-being you become emotionally immature and demanding.
Suze Orman Quote: “When you understand that your self-worth is not determined by your net-worth, then you'll have financial freedom.”
How To Separate Your Self-Worth from Your Work
What Determines Self-Worth? According to the self-worth theory, self-worth is determined mostly by our self-evaluated abilities and our performance in one or more activities that we deem valuable. However, people commonly use other yardsticks to measure their self-worth.
Some of the many causes of low self-esteem may include: Unhappy childhood where parents (or other significant people such as teachers) were extremely critical. Poor academic performance in school resulting in a lack of confidence. Ongoing stressful life event such as relationship breakdown or financial trouble.
There are many options, of course, but here's what I suggest generally:
Stop trying to prove yourself to the naysayers and critics. Avoid assertive behavior and insubordinate conduct that intends to prove you're worthy to others. You don't need others' approval. Idea for Impact: Don't fritter away precious time and energy seeking to prove your worth and worrying that you could fall short.
20 Ways to Show Your Value at Work:
Your sense of self-worth helps you to trust your own judgment and make better decisions, which are important leadership qualities that can help you advance in your career. Self-worth can lend you the confidence to run meetings, support other team members and have greater autonomy at work.
Self worth is the opinion you have about yourself and the value you place on yourself. An example of self worth is your belief that you are a good person who deserves good things or your belief that you are a bad person who deserves bad things.
Net-worth: Your assets minus your debts. Self-worth: The quality of being worthy of esteem or respect. As humans, it is in our nature to compare ourselves to others.
