However, a Marketwatch study compared identical orders on a few food delivery apps and found that Uber Eats was among the cheapest. In that particular case, Uber Eats' delivery fee is $1.49 compared to delivery fees up to $6.49.
Eater SF, citing the San Francisco Chronicle, said Postmates raised its fees in California by 50 cents to $2.50. Postmates' price hike was due to the passage of Prop 22 — the very same measure that was supposed to keep costs down.
When the journalist ordered a tofu teriyaki bowl, however, it was GrubHub that came out on top, at almost $3 cheaper than the other options. And when he next decided to order a Greek chicken pita, the winner was DoorDash, by an admittedly small amount of less than a dollar.
Since it all occurs without your restaurant's consent, Grubhub can't charge you the steep commissions it levies on partnered restaurants (which, by the way, it plans on increasing). Instead, your customers end up paying Grubhub high prices to cover all the costs.
