The Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® is making a departure. Barclays has announced it will soon stop accepting new applications for the travel rewards card.
Barclaycard Arrival Plus is one of the very best travel rewards credit cards on the market, offering a big initial bonus and a generous ongoing earning rate that applies to all purchases, not just those in specific spending categories.
World Elite is Mastercard's highest benefits level. ... The best World Elite Mastercard benefits include: purchase protection, price protection, extended warranties, travel accident insurance and multiple discount programs. Other good perks include a ShopRunner membership and exclusive PGA Tour golf experiences.
According to Barclays, eligible travel purchases include: Airlines, hotels, motels, timeshares, campgrounds, car rental agencies, cruise lines, purchase and travel agencies, discount travel sites, trains, buses, taxis, limousines, ferries, and the account annual fee as defined by the merchant category code.
However, it lost money for Barclays and lacked the popularity of the Arrival +. The main reason for this was its unique bonus structure. The Arrival Premier offered annual spend bonuses instead of a normal sign-up bonus. It also had a higher annual fee at $149 (NOT waived the first year).
